Trein first Dutch app to be 'featured' in the App Store

Trein featured in App Store

During the iPhone Tech Talk in Amsterdam... uhm Delft... someone from Apple Developer Relations Europe approached me about Trein. Apparently the app is well known within Apple Europe. He asked me to drop him an email for being featured in the App Store. Being "featured" may mean anything from a banner on the App Store homepage, to an icon in the New, What's Hot or Staff Favorites categories, to a product page treatment (like Sim City and Google Earth). He did explicitly say it wasn't a commitment but that he would at least try to get the "iTunes team" to feature Trein.

So I sent him my artwork and waited. Nothing happened. Since I'm a very impatient guy, I sent him another e-mail a few weeks later, to complain a bit about the lack of Dutch apps being featured in the Dutch App Store. Again nothing, until...

This morning, I went to the Dutch App Store in iTunes and to my surprise my Trein app is now featured with a banner on the App Store homepage! As far as I know this is a first for a typically Dutch app! I do think it's a bit late, but better now then never. I do hope that Apple appoints someone to be in charge of the Dutch App Store specifically (instead of us inheriting from the US App Store), and that there are many more Dutch apps to follow!
